Brianna Griffin - Sr. Project Manager
bri@clearsigns.com
With more than 15 years on the team, Brianna has been an integral part of CSD operations from day one. She is known for lending a hand in any department when needed from design, estimating, accounting, business development and production management. Her tenure with the company exceeds all others, and the 12 years she spent as a Project Manager has given her a tremendous insight to our internal processes and unique industry dynamics. All of which serve her well as our Sr. Project Manager, and give her an advantage in leading our largest national clients. When she is not coordinating a new client branch or traveling to manage an installation, you can find Brianna on the co-ed soccer field mixing it up with the boys or on a nearby hiking trail with her husband Gabriel and 8 year old son Matthew.
Favorite ProjectThroughout the years of project managing at Clear Sign, I can honestly say that I do not have a singular favorite project. What I do have are great relationships from multiple accounts that I loved being a part of. The most enjoyable was managing the Charlotte Russe account for eight years, especially when we had stores located in Outlet Malls. This is when their “sign standards” usually transformed into something unique. I am still proud of the fact our team completed nearly 300 new locations and never missed one grand opening – a testament to our team’s focus and dedication to the cause.
Hidden PassionBrianna is a proud Mother of an energetic eight year old boy, and enjoys Vegan cooking, mountain biking, co-ed soccer player, hiking, camping, shoe shopping, family time, baking, Netflix marathons and all things that sparkle. Surprisingly, she is also a 2007 Olympic arm-wrestling Silver medalist and also known for her appearance on season 3 of TV show Survivor… OK, just kidding on those last two. Did I mention she is a really good Project Manager?
Steve Weddell - President
info@clearsigns.com
Founded in 1981, Clear Sign & Design has always been a byproduct of the creative mind of Steve Weddell. With his vision and determination the 35-year old company has grown strategically to what it is today. Steve’s resolve and passion for excellence stems not just from being a savvy business owner, but more intriguingly from his professional training as an artist & graphic designer. This background set the stage early on that Clear Sign was an extension of Steve’s vision. His passion for design was officially transferred into creating not only beautiful signage that played a role in properly branding and communicating – but could do so with the highest level of quality enabling Steve’s projects to last much longer than his local competition. If you have had the pleasure to work with Steve you would understand when I say his passion is as strong as ever to deliver a product that meets the needs of his customers combining design, quality, creativity and integrity to everything he does.
Favorite ProjectWith 35 years of projects its hard to pick just one but the most challenging one and a favorite of mine was the San Diego Zoo Exit Sign. Weeks of design collaboration and engineering consideration took place before the final product was approved for fabrication. The key element of the project was creating an abstract bird, constructed of aluminum with kinetic wings that would fly wherever the ocean breeze will take it. Demanding creative, mechanical and technical skillset from the CSD team from inception to completion is what really set this project apart from all others. At the end of the day it was a project the entire team could be proud of – and it winning “Best Sign Design of 2012” from the International Sign Association didn’t hurt either.
Hidden PassionSteve has a passion for creative arts of all kinds, technology, cooking, hunting, fishing, traveling, spending time with family, finding new restaurants, photography, videography, designing he can get his hands on, playing with his two dogs and spending the day at a classic car show.
Marilyn Day - Business Manager
mday@clearsigns.com
A member of the Clear Sign team since1987, Marilyn has played a large role in strategically growing Clear Sign during the past 28 years, and has experienced the benefits and the challenges of the countless business cycles during her career. Marilyn’s resolve and passion for excellence has been a key asset in developing the team and the administrative side of the company from HR to Project Management, Purchasing and Accounting since day one. Her leadership has been the backbone of our organization and continues to play a key role even today.
Favorite ProjectTo be honest, I’m not sure I can single out one project from my nearly three decades worth of projects. But I can think of a favorite customer we have had the pleasure of working with over the years... and that’s K1 Speed. It has been great to work along side them and watch them grow just as we did in the early days. I still remember the first location be built here in Carlsbad back in 2005. Since then, we have worked together on 22+ locations all across the country from San Diego to Florida and everywhere in between. Our mission to find customers that share our same passion for excellence is never ending, Which is why nearly 10 years later – Our alliance continues to forge on.
Hidden PassionWhen not in the office running reports and tackling HR issues, Marilyn can be found tending to her two rescued dogs and the neighborhood feral cats. She also enjoys creative arts of all kinds, technology, spending time with her family, going to the movies, Food Network marathons, finding new restaurants to visit, wine tasting and Grand Prix racing at the Carlsbad K1 Speed!
Gabe Griffin - General Manager
gabe@clearsigns.com
With more than 19 years of construction and management experience under his belt, Gabe has developed a highly effective management and leadership style that brings tremendous value to our organization. Going on 12 years with the team, his relentless work ethic and passion for excellence are truly second to none. Adding to his responsibilities, Gabe also finds time to give back to the industry as a local IAEI member and a contributor to three ISA and WSA technical committees. Gabe was also recently added to the NEC’s code making panel-18 where he donates his time on behalf of the ISA to help represent the sign industry as a whole, as he tackles important electrical sign safety, code and protocol. Promoted to General Manager in 2012, Gabe has shown incredible flexibility lending a hand to anyone that needs it, all the while working hard to lead the team responsible for the amazing quality, unique solutions and client centric service for which Clear Sign is widely known for.
Favorite ProjectMy most notable project was the Bridgepoint Education High Rise we completed back in 2011 - mostly due to the combination of tight timeline, the obvious safety / liability issues, and the high profile aspect of the project. The scope included removing and replacing (2) sets of 6' tall channel letters 415’ above the public right of way using a unique building-top swing stage with 16' parapet walls. This is the type of project that really tests a team’s ability to plan, focus, and execute... At the end of the day, our team simply delivered. Weeks of strategic planning, careful engineering, and flawless orchestration by our installation team led to us finish the job several days early. And when the job was complete, seeing that our sign was brighter than the competition didn't hurt either.
Hidden PassionProud father, mountain biker, musician (drummer)(in a past life), certified CA electrician, holds an NCCO crane operator and class B license, admittedly loves photography, playing chess, designing, branding, marketing, videography, vegan cooking, family road trips, camping, hiking, audio books, nutra-bullet shakes and anything related to self development. On the opposite end, dislikes flying, roller coasters, the beach and a lot of other things most normal people would consider fun.
Frank Bojorquez - Production Manager
frank@clearsigns.com
Creating Artwork has been a passion for Frank Bojorquez for as long as he can remember. Like many artists, his canvas has changed several times throughout his life but his passion has not. Frank’s love for painting led him down several paths, but hand-painting signs is what made Frank realize that not only could he do something he loves, but he could make it a career. So at the age of 19 he opened his own sign shop. Soon after that, his talents were in demand by a much larger company, and Frank spent the next seven years as a production manager designing and building thousands of projects for well-known clients like Coca Cola. After much success in his hometown of Mexicali, Mexico, Frank immigrated to Southern California in 2001 and quickly put his sign-industry talents to work, joining the Clear Sign team in 2002. Frank has been an incredible asset to our company’s success and growth over the last 15 years. Not only does he bring 25 years of sign experience to the table, but he also brings a wealth of knowledge in Installation, CNC and CAD operation as well as painting skills and graphic production. Frank’s passion for art still burns strong today as he often refers to his job as his hobby, and it shows in his attention to detail and ever-present search for perfection.
Favorite ProjectBy far the most satisfying for me was the large monument we built for the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park. This project brought many unique challenges that always seem to bring out the best in our team. From the cast-in-place concrete walls with custom stain and anti-graffiti coating, to the 25’ long multi-layered rhino, this project was unique from end to end and I am proud to have been apart of it.
Hidden PassionVegetarian lifestyle, Youth leader at a local community church, Outdoor sports and recreation of all kinds, Mountain Biking, Camping, Family Time, Technology lover, avid reader and a well-known DJ at a local night club. OK, maybe the last one was stretching it…
Scott Oliver - Lead Installer
scott@clearsigns.com
With more than 18 years of construction and electrical experience under his belt, Scott brings a tremendously high level of professionalism to our installation department. Going on 8 years with the team, Scott’s relentless work ethic and passion for excellence are truly second to none. Promoted to Lead Installer back in 2011, Scott has shown incredible flexibility lending a hand to anyone that needs it, all the while working hard to lead the team responsible for the amazing quality, unique solutions and client centric service for which Clear Sign is known for. When he is not on the end of a 65’ boom truck, Scott can be found somewhere in San Diego spending time with his family or on the local trail with his modified Jeep.
Favorite ProjectMy favorite project was the Bridgepoint Education High Rise project we completed back in 2011 - mostly due to the combination of tight timeline, the obvious liability issues, and the high profile aspect of the project. The scope included removing and replacing (2) sets of 6' tall channel letters 415’ above the public right of way using a unique building-top swing stage with 16' parapet walls. Weeks of strategic planning, careful engineering, and flawless orchestration by our installation team led to us finish the job several days early.
Hidden PassionProud father, downhill mountain biker, certified CA electrician, holds an NCCO crane operator and class B license, admittedly loves taking mid day naps, swimming, watching movies with his daughter, all you can eat seafood dinners, swing stages, and long walks on the beach.
Seth Long - Lead Fabricator
seth@clearsigns.com
More impressive than Seth’s resume of welding certifications and 18-year portfolio of custom fabrication is the potential that was realized when we plugged him into our million-dollar production facility. Seth’s blend of engineering and fabrication experience is a great advantage when working on projects of all shapes and sizes. Unlike many other fabricators, for Seth... the more complex the better. His fearless approach to problem solving, coupled with his creative ideas in value engineering, brings tremendous value to our team and customers alike. The sky is the limit when a talent like Seth is injected into a facility with as many in-house capabilities as ours. But when he is not playing around in solid works or TIG welding 316 Stainless Steel, Seth can be found at home working on one of his project cars or on the local hiking trails with his young family of five.
Favorite ProjectOne of my favorites is the San Diego Zoo “Plan Your Day” sign. It had two LCD displays that could broadcast any media and constantly change, the dimensional letters seemed to flow and fit, everything we did to this sign seemed to fit just right, from the cam locked doors we routed out to the mounts for the displays. I got to spend a lot of time in 3D Solid Works building this sign and working out every detail before going into production with it. Evidence of my obsession is the fact that certain dimensions are permanently stuck in my head, I know what had to be improvised and could write a step-by-step assemble/disassemble if needed from memory alone.
Hidden PassionSeth is a master of repurposing “stuff” (junk, trash, refuse etc.) He admittedly never throws anything away and likes creating new useful things from old discarded stuff. Like making chairs from pallets, dash knobs for a hot rod from old machine parts, or planter boxes from old channel letters. Seth will always need stop at garage sales and thrift stores to find other people’s junk to turn into something awesome. He is also handy around the kitchen, loves hiking and binging on the internet until 3am.
Adrienne Schurmann - Design Manager
adrienne@clearsigns.com
With 10 years of industry experience, Adrienne Schurmann is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to creative design. Straight out of college she was trained in graphic design and was introduced to the sign world in 2006. Since then she has developed her skill-sets and fed her passion for creating unique and purposeful design. From simple logo’s to entire architectural packages that include monuments, unit IDs, evacuation maps, and code compliant signage. Where Adrienne really shines, is in finding new materials to influence her creative spirit and to help differentiate from past projects. If you have had the pleasure of working with her – you’ll understand that her passion for design and art come from deep within, and spills out into everything she touches. Combine that passion with her experience and knowledge in production and the possibilities become endless.
Favorite ProjectThere are so many projects I’ve had the pleasure of working on in the last 10 years... I think the two that stick out the most was a project called Echelon (Las Vegas) and another called Ten Fifty B (San Diego). Both of these projects let me hunt down new materials and new techniques, to create truly unique packages that widened the barriers of what a conventional sign package can become. These projects also provided me with some valuable experience, as I was able to closely follow them through every phases of production - watching our craftsmen bring my concept to life.
Hidden PassionWhen finally peeling herself away from the computer, Adrienne loves being, what her friends call her, a photo ninja. She loves photography and tries her hardest to make sure no one sees her when she’s doing it. She also loves finding new hot restaurant spots with her honey, Rob. She swears that Peruvian food is the best, loves going on Vegas trips with her family, late night bowling, finding new things to stick in her crockpot, watching all genres of movies, having board game marathons and deep sea diving for pearls... OK, maybe that last one was a stretch.

Jessie Segura - Lead Installer
jessie@clearsigns.com
Having been on team Clear Sign for more than 9 years, Jessie brings a tremendous amount of professionalism and experience to our installation department. Since day one, Jessie has been practicing his trade and refining his skills as they apply to every aspect of his game. Recently promoted to Lead Installer, Jessie has shown incredible flexibility and attention to detail towards his demanding schedule no matter where the challenge presents itself. Combined with his unique ability to combat complex problems with creative solutions, Jessie has played an important role sustaining a high level of professionalism and accountability to an already fast paced high-risk department. Always seeming to find himself on the next high-rise project, Jessie’s capabilities in the field are truly endless.
Favorite ProjectMy favorite and most satisfying project by far was our recent completion of a large 4000 sqft wall mural custom fabricated with 316 SS and accented with nearly 1000 feet of direct and indirect LED lighting. It depicts a scene of four anglers fishing for tuna as a tribute to San Diego’s rich fishing history. To add in the complexity of this project all sections needed to be assembled on the wall, including a mirage of 100+ 4x8 wall pattern tiles, which was accessible only via swing stage platform, all within 10’ feet of the MTS trolley right of way. Which meant special MTS training, flaggers and constant interruption. At the end of the day, I couldn’t be happier with how are team pulled together to make sure this product was executed properly and without incident. It is a San Diego landmark the entire team can be proud of.
Hidden PassionJessie keeps himself busy on and off the clock. When not practicing his trade you can find him on mountain biking trails, camping, spending time with his family, playing with his dog Ruca, constant trips to the desert, or detailing his truck. He admittedly loves technology, swing stages, daffodils, hammer drills, long walks on the beach and tearing up the sand dunes on his YFZ450.
Victoria Rivera - Project Coordinator
victoria@clearsigns.com
With more than 7-years of business experience related to several departments ranging from HR to Project Coordination Victoria brings a tremendous amount of skill, experience and passion to her work. Like most of us... Victoria wants nothing more than to be apart of a positive and capable team. To that team, she brings excellent conflict resolution ability; great organizational skills and the willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. Victoria takes pride in her work, and that is evident in all of the projects she has been apart of. Supporting our dedicated sales team suites her skill sets well, and her passion for excellence blends perfectly with our client-centric culture.
Favorite ProjectMy favorite project to date is was the Alexan Melrose apartment project for TCR construction. Not for any flashy design or extravagant features – but for the subtle integration and compliments to the existing architecture. For instance, when Joseph decided to pull a fabric from the pool furniture to accent the walls signs. These small details really look fantastic when you walk the completed project.
Hidden PassionWorking out at the gym at least 3 times a week, dancing latin music such as merengue, cumbias and bachata. Married to her wonderful Husband since 2011 and a proud mother of a spunky 2 year old daughter. She admittedly loves taking family trips to Disneyland and anniversary trips with the husband anywhere outside of the United States. Weekends are always filled with friends and family parties. Favorite words to live by... “Live, Laugh and Love”
Stephen Kelley - Project Manager
stephen@clearsigns.com
No matter how big the challenge, Stephen’s passion for excellence and fierce work ethic always seem to find him and his projects success. Add that to his nearly 10 years of industry experience and you have truly capable Project and Account Manager resource. Not only is Stephen dedicated to his clients, but he diligently takes the time to continue his education and sharpen his skill sets when ever he gets the chance. From code, to product knowledge and a formal engineering education Stephen definitely leads by example when it comes to self-development and a career focused mindset. At the end of the day, he takes great pride in what he is able to provide his clients beyond the expected design and products.
Favorite ProjectWhile it’s hard to pick one project as my favorite out of the hundred’s I’ve worked on over the last 10 years, one of the most rewarding was a small private school in San Diego named Concorde Career College. This is my favorite project largely due to the profound impact our signage had on the campus. The benefit to the look and feel is hard to describe, but hearing from the schools President on how well the entire package helped the school was highly satisfying, and gave all of the motivation needed to continue brining value to all of the projects I have had the pleasure to work with.
Hidden PassionSome of his hidden passions include: Riding motorcycles through the amazing So Cal canyons and chasing sunsets for epic photos. He is a certified technology lover and shares a passion for healthy eating, fitness, rock climbing, naked twister, furry animals, and attending local car shows.
Troy Wedberg - Designer
troy@clearsigns.com
The most interesting sign guy in the world? Quite possibly, depending on who you talk to. Troy was born and bread in Los Angeles County then transplanted to San Diego in 1991. U.S. Army veteran, SDSU graduate and current title holder of the San Diego County Surf Fishing Championship 2008-present. With these kind of credentials who needs a resume? All joking aside Troy is an experienced graphic designer who enjoys applying his skills to the ultra unique world of custom signage.
Favorite ProjectBy far my favorite project to date was a high end apartment project in Point Loma. This property had several upgraded sign touches and they all worked together to bring the property alive. Internally, the collaboration and team work on this job was incredible to witness! And the end result? World class signage and a great value to our customer.
Hidden PassionThree-Dimensional design and Quantum Physics as it applies to signage in the real world. What does that mean to you? Attention to detail and precision that has only been seen before in laboratories and highly classified government facilities. Oh, and Motorsports! He loves racing.
